Ray Kroc made billions as the self-proclaimed founder of the fast food chain McDonalds. This is the story of how a struggling Midwestern salesman (Michael Keaton) met Mac (John Carroll Lynch) and Dick (Nick Offerman) McDonald, operators of a popular fast service burger joint in 1950s southern California, saw franchise potential and convinced the brothers to let him sell their idea. As Kroc’s business model succeeded, his morals disappeared and soon he discarded both his business partners and his first wife (Laura Dern) as he created a global food juggernaut with corporate ethics and fast money that was completely at odds with the business model he started with. Director John Lee Hancock (The Blindside) and screenwriter Robert Siegel (The Wrestler) have created a fascinating look at and cautionary tale about an iconic institution.
