This year’s Oscar-winning foreign film is the second Academy Award for Iranian director Asghar Farhadi (2011’s A Separation) and at Cannes actor Shahab Hosseini won for his starring performance. In this suspenseful, seductively layered domestic thriller, a High School teacher and his wife, who are both amateur actors in a community troupe, suddenly find themselves homeless when their apartment building starts to collapse. From a tip from a friend, they find a spacious different apartment whose previous tenant left suddenly, mysteriously leaving behind a room full of belongings. Then a traumatic incident involving this previous tenant occurs that affects each of them, but in different ways.
