This deftly elegant and dark comedy of manners, written a few years ago, takes a timely look at class, race and privilege in a new collaboration between screenwriter Mike White (School of Rock) and Miguel Arteta (Cedar Rapids) who took Sundance by storm years ago with Chuck and Buck and soon after with The Good Girl. Salma Hayek (Frieda) stars as a poor immigrant turned successful health practitioner who gets invited to a 1%er dinner party at a long-time client’s house when her car breaks down in their driveway. She is unnerved when one of the other guests appears to be a significant person from her past. The guests include a cutthroat, self-satisfied billionaire (John Lithgow), and his business partner and wife (Jay Duplass and Chloe Sevigny). When their worlds collide, none will ever be the same.
