Based on the New York Times best-selling memoir, and from first time writer-director Alexander Janko, who also composed the score, this enchanting romantic comedy-drama tells the life-affirming story of an empty-nester mom, Joan Anderson (Karen Allen), who takes a break from her marriage, retreating to Cape Cod ostensibly to write a book, instead of relocating with her husband to the Midwest. Intent to rediscover herself but plagued with guilt, she questions her decision until stumbling upon a spirited mentor (Celia Imrie). Supported by her literary agent (S. Epatha Merkerson) and a host of locals, Joan tries to embrace the ebb and flow of life, and discover the balance between self and sacrifice, obligation and desire.
