Visually gorgeous, this bold homage to the Dutch post-impressionistic painter Vincent Van Gogh brings the renowned painter’s intensely beautiful oil paintings to life in this unique animated film. Polish animator Dorota Kobiela and co-writer and co-director Hugh Welchman use over 130 different paintings in creating the film, while using them to explore a dramatic mystery about the artist’s death; the story finds the postmaster of Arles, Vincent’s friend and frequent subject, in possession of Vincent’s last letter after he dies; he sends it with his son to deliver to his brother Theo. But as the young man seeks out Theo, he discovers contradictory questions of the artist’s final days.
