Director Wes Anderson (Grand Budapest Hotel, The Fantastic Mr. Fox) returns with an eccentric, visually innovative, unexpectedly timely, and fully original stop-motion animated film. Set in the near future, the evil mayor of a Japanese city permanently confines all the dogs in his domain to an island made of trash because of a perceived health threat. The story, told from the perspective of the dogs, follows the quest of a 12 year old boy who risks all to be reunited with his beloved pet, and inspires a college exchange student to expose a government conspiracy. Voice work actors include Bryan Cranston, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Leiv Schreiber, Scarlett Johansson, Greta Gerwig, Yoko Ono, Tilda Swinton and Frances McDormand.
