This story of survival is the debut film written and directed by Canadian Mig’maq filmmaker Jeff Barnaby. In 1976, a rebellious Mi'gMaq teen living on the reservation plots revenge against the sadistic Indian agent who runs the residential school. Legally, she should be in school, but instead is the weed princess of Red Crow, hustling with her uncle and selling enough dope to pay the agent her "truancy tax". But when her drug money is stolen and her father Joseph returns from prison, the precarious balance of her world is destroyed. Her only options are to run or fight, and Mi'gMaq don't run.
