This sweet, funny comedy from director Brett Haley and his co-screenwriter Marc Basch - they have collaborated previously on The Hero and I'll See You in My Dreams - explores a father daughter relationship at a critical juncture in their lives. Daughter Sam (Kiersey Clemont) is about to go off to tackle pre-med in college on the other side of the country, leaving her widowed dad (Nick Offerman) with his failing record shop in a gentrifying Brooklyn neighborhood, and her increasingly demented grandmother (Blythe Danner). But dad has always wanted to be in a band and he recognizes Sam's talent as a musician, but also knows the fact that when she leaves for college, this dream is done. When one of their songs gets picked up on a Spotify indie playlist, it complicates their world.
