The most original, outrageous, unique, unsettling, hilarious, absurdist comedy of the year is the debut feature from hip-hop artist turned filmmaker Boots Riley. Tackling capitalism, racism and class division with a dose of boundary-pushing satire this uncategorizable film has a similar offbeat bent as films by Michel Gondry, Spike Jones and Terry Gilliam. Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out) stars as an unemployed man in an alternative present-day Oakland who would love to live with his artist girlfriend (Tessa Thompson, Creed) anywhere else than his uncle’s garage. After he gets a job as a telemarketer, he learns the secret to success is talking with your white voice (supplied by actor David Cross). Doors open, opportunities follow and he climbs the corporate ladder, until he is noticed by the company ceo (Armie Hammer) who makes him an unbelievable offer.
