In this impressive and lyrical debut feature film, documentary filmmaker Jeremiah Zagar presents a collection of pivotal moments over a year in the life of young Jonah, a 10 year old white/Puerto Rican boy who lives with his imperfect and struggling parents and two beloved older brothers in upstate Utica NY. Based on the impressionistic autobiographical debut novel by Justin Torres, Jonah struggles to process the dysfunction in his life through his art, as well as with the difficulty in adjusting in his relationships with his siblings from the communal bond of “we” to the independence of “I”.
