With humor and humility Emilio Estevez wrote, directed and stars in this sincere, engaging and rewarding film that showcases the importance of public libraries to their communities, especially the less fortunate. Set in Cincinnati but based on an article about an event at Salt Lake City's public library, an arctic blast has created a dangerous situation for the homeless and some homeless patrons decide to spend the night in the stacks. A librarian supports them, but this act of civil disobedience becomes a standoff with the police and a media circus speculating on what is actually happening. Stars include Jeffrey Wright, Christian Slater, Jena Malone, Alec Baldwin, Gabrielle Union and Michael Kenneth Williams. Our neighbors at the Jesup Library will be introducing each screening and they will host a discussion on Friday May 24th.
