This brilliantly fun, madcap farce is the second feature from Kirill Mikhanovsky. Somewhat autobiographical, it tells of a day in the life of a medical transport van driver (a job the director had shortly after moving to the US). Ringing with authenticity, the characters are played by actors from Milwaukee’s Russian community and from a vocational training program for people with disabilities. Ever escalating, this thrilling and moving story follows what happens when Vic tries to help his grandfather and friends to a funeral, even while making his regular rounds, as roads are blocked and his route is upended. As the day goes from hectic to off-the-rails, their collective ride becomes a hilarious, compassionate, and intersectional portrait of American dreams and disenchantment.
