Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, and Margo Robbie all give well-acted, convincing portrayals as women working at Fox News who began fighting against sexism in their organization (over a year before Harvey Weinstein was taken down by #MeToo) and took down the network’s powerful CEO Roger Ailes (John Lithgow). Kidman plays Gretchen Carlson, a journalist who was forced out of her job for failing to play the game, Theron plays Megyn Kelly, who struggled to balance her ambition with how she was wronged, and Robbie’s composite character is a new girl in over her head in trying to advance her career. Jay Roach (Trumbo, Austin Powers) directs this layered, nuanced and socially relevant story revealing what happened inside the most powerful and controversial media empire, written by co-Oscar winner Charles Randolph (The Big Short).
